Remove the flywheel.

Use Tool (A) to remove the crankshaft rear seal.

Install Tooling (C) in the rear seal bore.
Install Tooling (B) between Tooling (C) and the wear sleeve. Turn Tooling (B) until the edge of the tool makes a flat place (crease) in the wear sleeve. Perform this operation in two or more places until the wear sleeve is loose.
Remove Tooling (C). Remove the wear sleeve.Installation Procedure

Illustration 3 g01422685Note: The wear sleeve and the seal must be installed at the same time.
Install crankshaft rear seal (6) and wear sleeve (1) with Tooling (D), as follows:

Use Tooling (E) to clean the inside diameter of wear sleeve and the outside diameter of crankshaft . Apply Tooling (F) to the outside diameter of crankshaft and the inside diameter of wear sleeve.
Install locator (2) and the bolts on the crankshaft gear.
Install spacer (3) on the stud of locator (2).
The wear sleeve and the seal come as a set. The seal is installed on the wear sleeve.
Put wear sleeve (1) and seal (6) on locator (2).Note: Ensure that the lip of the seal is positioned toward the front of the engine. Push the seal into position.
Put installer (5) in position on locator (2).
Put clean engine oil on the face of nut (4) and the contact area on installer (5). Install nut (4) on locator (2).
Tighten nut (5) until installer (4) is seated with spacer (3).
Remove Tooling (D) and check the wear sleeve and the seal for correct installation.End By:
