Removal Procedure
Start By:
Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU7360, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain".
Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Clean up fuel spills immediately.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines for installation purposes. Plug all lines. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Unlock the lock (1) .
Open fuel tank access cover (2) .

Remove two bolts (3) and washers.
Remove fuel tank access cover (2) with stay (4) .

Remove washers and two bolts (5) from the right side support assembly.

Remove bolt (6) and the washer.
Remove battery cover (7) .

Remove bolt (9) and the washer from the right side support assembly.
Remove right side support assembly (8) .

Loosen clamps (10) and (11) .
Disconnect fuel lines (12) and (13) .
Disconnect electrical connector (14) .

Remove four bolts (15) and washers from the fuel tank.

Remove fuel tank (16) with a suitable lifting device from the upper structure. Weight of the fuel tank is 25 kg (55 lb).
