Loosen the filler cap on the hydraulic tank to permit the pressure in the tank to go down before installation or removal of any test equipment. To prevent personal injury, make reference to on first page to Steering System Testing And Adjusting section.
Steering Cylinder Pressure Settings
To check the pressure in the steering cylinders with the system in the HOLD position (no steer).
Steering Cylinder Bleed Valve
(1) Bleed valve.1. Remove bleed valve (1) from each steering cylinder.2. Install the 0 to 4000 kPa (0 to 580 psi) pressure gauge.
Do not turn the steering wheel when the engine is running and a low pressure gauge is installed in the steering circuit. If the steering wheel is turned, the pressure of the oil to the steering cylinders will be too high for a low pressure gauge.
3. Start engine and read the left turn charging pressure and right turn charging pressure at high idle. The pressure must be 380 100 kPa (56 15 psi).If the pressures are low or high. a. Remove end cover (4) from steering control valve (3).b. Add flow control shims (5) to increase pressure, remove flow control shims to decrease pressure.c. Replace end cover (4) on the control valve.d. Bleed servo pilot system.
Flow Control
(3) Steering control valve. (4) End cover. (5) Flow control shims. (6) Flow balance shims.The difference between left turn charging pressure and right turn charging pressure must not be more than 35 kPa (5 psi). If the difference between the left turn and the right turn pressure is more than 35 kPa (5 psi): a. Remove end cover (4) from steering control valve (3).b. Add flow balance shims (6) if the left turn charging pressure is higher than the right turn charging pressure. Remove flow balance shims (6) if the left turn charging pressure is lower than the right turn charging pressure.c. Replace end cover (4) on the control valve.d. Bleed servo pilot system.Steering System Main Pressure Setting
To check the main pressure relief valve setting:1. Move machine to a dry, hard surface.2. Disconnect cushion hitch selector valve hose (7), and install a 0 to 25 000 kPa (0 to 3650 psi) pressure gauge.
Steering Control Valve
(7) Cushion hitch selector valve hose.3. Start engine, raise bowl and release brakes.4. Turn the machine left until the stop makes contact.5. Operate the engine at high idle and continue steering to the left. The correct pressure is 15 500 170 kPa (2250 25 psi).If the pressure setting is not correct:a. Remove plug (8) from steering control valve.
Relief Valve Adjustment
(8) Adjustment plug. (9) Shims.b. Add relief valve shims (9) to increase the pressure setting and remove shims if a decrease in pressure is necessary.c. One 3J7473 Shim is 0.13 mm (.005 in.) thick and will change the pressure 275 kPa (40 psi). One 3H2549 Shim is 0.25 mm (.010 in.) thick and will change the pressure 550 kPa (80 psi).6. Turn the machine right until the stop makes contact.7. Operate the engine at high idle and continue steering
