Installation of weather strip
Start along the side or the top of the window opening. Fit the channel of the weather strip over the edge of the panel of the body. Continue the strip around the perimeter or the window opening. Cut the strip in order to overlap the starting point by 1/8 per foot of perimeter of the window opening. Bring the ends of strip together and force the ends over the panel. This will ensure a tight joint. Refer to Illustration 1.
Illustration 2 g01759997
Application of solution of soapy water
Apply a solution of soapy water with a small brush to the locking lip and glass channel. This procedure will ease the entry of the glass. Also, this procedure will prevent possible cutting of the rubber. This facilitates insertion of the locking tool and final locking operation. Refer to Illustration 2.
Illustration 3 g01760013
Insertion of glass panel
Start in the lower corner and insert the glass panel into the channel as far as the panel will go without being forced. Lift the lip of the channel for the glass with the straight end of the locking tool or a plastic spatula so that glass slips easily into the channel for the glass. Refer to Illustration 3.
Illustration 4 g01760193
Cross-sectional view of weather strip and locking tool
This cross-sectional view of weather strip shows that the locking tool is inserted and used in locking the glass panel and the metal edge of the body. The locking tool may be inserted between the locking lip and the groove away from the strip joint at any point. Refer to Illustration 4.
Illustration 5 g01760198
Usage of locking tool
Continue moving the locking tool around the corner when a corner is being rounded. Rounding the corners is easily done. Also, rounding the corners should lock the strip without pinching the rubber. Refer to Illustration 5.
Illustration 6 g01760213
Completed assembly
The completed assembly results in a clean installation and a smooth installation with fully formed corners. The installation will provide weatherproof windows, windshields, and panels. Refer to Illustration 6.
Once the window is installed, reinstall the enclosure door onto the enclosure.
