Right Side of Engine (1) Steering Pump (2) Outlet Line (3) Pressure Tap (4) Suction LineSteering pump (1) is located in the engine compartment, on the right side of the machine. The engine compartment hood provides access to this component.Steering pump (1) is the second section of a two section gear pump. The fan pump is the first section of this two section pump. The engine drives the fan pump. The steering pump is splined to the fan pump. The steering pump and the fan pump draw oil from the hydraulic tank through suction line (4). A suction strainer in the tank provides initial filtration for the steering pump and the fan pump. The suction line draws oil through the strainer.Flow is sent to the steering control unit through steering outlet line (2). Steering system pressure can be measured at pressure tap (3) in the steering outlet line. After the steering requirements have been met, the remainder of the flow from the steering pump is combined with the return oil from the fan motor. This combined oil is sent to the charge filter. After flowing through the charge filter, the combined oil then becomes charge oil for the vibratory hydraulic system and for the propel system.
