Problem
Some 9G4234 Batteries are assembled incorrectly and have reverse polarity. Attempted use of a battery with reverse polarity can damage other electrical system components.
Affected Product
9G4234 Batteries with Manufacturer's date codes listed below. There is a date code on the battery carton. If the battery has been removed from the carton, there is another type date code hot-stamped on the side edge of the cover on the battery. Either date code can be used. Action Required
Identify each 9G4234 Battery within the listed date codes. Remove each of these batteries from parts stock. WARRANTY ALLOWANCES Submit one claim for all batteries. The claim must show: 1. Quantity of batteries with each date code. The carton date code is preferred; however, either date code can be used. 2. Date when batteries were destroyed.
Parts Disposition
Destroy batteries by breaking the top of each battery. Record the information necessary for the warranty claim. If a battery has been activated (acid added) drain the battery acid before the battery is destroyed. Battery acid could splash and cause personal injury. Termination Date
