Temperature Sensor (Torque Converter Oil)
-Temperature Sensor (Transmission Oil)

Temperature Sensor
Note: A machine is equipped with a transmission oil temperature sensor and a torque converter temperature sensor. Both sensors are similar, but the location is different. Other machines use the transmission oil temperature sensor which is located below the pump on the suction side. The temperature sensor for the steering oil informs the ECM of the temperature of the steering system oil. The ECM uses the information about the temperature in order to adjust the commands for braking control. The adjustment compensates for the effect of cold oil on the brake valve. The ECM reduces the command for the brake pressure for full retraction when the steering oil temperature is below a certain temperature. The transmission oil temperature sensor informs the ECM of the temperature of the transmission oil. The ECM uses the information for the temperature to adjust shifting time of the transmission. The adjustment will provide smooth shifting over the full range of the transmission oil temperature. On some machines, the ECM also uses transmission oil temperature in order to perform adjustments on the commands for brake control. The temperature sensor is a resistive sender. A higher resistance reading will output a higher temperature reading.Position Sensor (Service Brake Pedal)
Illustration 12 g00904530
Position Sensor (Service Brake Pedal)
The position sensors inform the ECM of the position of the pedals that are controlled by the operator. The position sensors output a pulse width modulated signal. The duty cycle of the signal will vary in proportion to the position of the pedal. These PWM signals are inputs to the ECM. The ECM uses the signals in order to determine the position of the pedal. The frequency of this signal is constant at approximately 500 Hz. The ECM provides an 8 V supply to the sensor. The position sensor for the service brake pedal continuously informs the ECM of the position of the service brake pedal. The ECM uses the duty cycle of the signal in order to determine the position of the pedal. The ECM uses the position of the pedal to determine the desired speed of the machine and the desired state of the parking brake. The duty cycle of the sensor signal decreases as the pedal is depressed. The pedal position sensor connects to the ECM at contact J2-40 for the left brake pedal and J2-32 for the right brake pedal.Position Sensor (FNR Shifter)
Illustration 13 g01135559The sensor informs the ECM of the position of the speed and direction control lever that is controlled by the operator. The following list shows the positions that the speed and direction control lever follows: NEUTRAL, FORWARD, REVERSE and SPEED. The operator selects the position and the sensor tells the ECM. The position sensor is a pulse width modulated sensor (PWM) that has an input to the ECM. The sensor continuously generates a PWM signal. The duty cycle of the signal varies in proportion to the position of the item that is actuating the sensor. The ECM receives the PWM signal
