Loosen clamp assemblies (4). Remove bolts (3) and tube assembly (2).

Remove bolts (6) and open grill assembly (5).

Remove bolts (8) and shield group (7).
Illustration 5 g06193152Note: Cap all hose assemblies and fittings that are disconnected with Tooling (D) to prevent fluid loss. This action will also keep contaminants out of the systems.
Disconnect hose assemblies (9) and temperature sensor (10).

Disconnect tube assembly (11). Remove bolt (13) and disconnect harness assembly (15).
Remove bolt (14), the clamp, and disconnect harness assembly (12). Reposition harness assemblies (12) and (15).

Use Tooling (B) to remove O-ring seals (16). Discard O-ring seals (16).

Remove nuts (17) and combustion head (18).
Illustration 9 g06193156Note: The gaskets (21) and (19) are for one time use only. Replace with new gaskets upon installation.
Remove gasket (21), tube assembly (22), and gasket (19).
If required, remove studs (20).

Remove fittings (23), spark plug (25) and adapters (24).Installation Procedure
Install combustion head (18) in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of studs (20). Tighten studs (20) to a torque of 17 2 N.m (150 18 lb in).
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of nuts (17). Tighten nuts (17) in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 23 3 N.m (204 27 lb in).
Tighten nuts (17) again in a crisscross pattern to a torque of 28 3 N.m (248 27 lb in).
Use caution when you are using isopropyl alcohol. Avoid prolonged skin contact with isopropyl alcohol.Vapors may be harmful if inhaled. Use only in a well ventilated area. Do not smoke while using isopropyl alcohol.Isopropyl alcohol is flammable. Do not use near an open flame or near welding operations. Keep isopropyl alcohol away from heated surfaces exceeding 482°C (900°F).
Note: This connection is an electrical connection and cannot be lubricated with a petroleum-based lubricant. Isopropyl alcohol is the only approved lubrication for this connection.
Apply Tooling (C) to O-ring seals (16).
Tighten adapters (24) to a torque of 60 6 N.m (44 4 lb ft).
Tighten spark plug (25) to a torque of 47 4 N.m (35 3 lb ft).
Tighten fittings (23) to a torque of 30 2 N.m (266 18 lb in).
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of temperature sensor (10). Tighten temperature sensor (10) to a torque of 45 5 N.m (33 4 lb ft).
Check the coolant level. If necessary, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Coolant - Change" for the proper filling procedures.
Perform the ARD ignition test. Refer to Troubleshooting Manual, "ARD Ignition - Test".
