Machine Stopping
Park on a level surface. If it is necessary to park on a grade, block the tracks securely.
1. Move the governor control lever forward slightly to reduce the engine speed. 2. Release the travel and directional control levers to stop the machine. 3. Place machine implements in the servicing position.4. Return the control levers to the HOLD position. 5. Move the hydraulic activation control lever back to the locked position.Freezing Conditions
If freezing temperatures are expected, each track roller frame should be cleaned of mud and dirt and the machine parked on wood planks. 1. Position the boom over one side. 2. Use boom down pressure to lift the track on that side off the ground. Operate the track in forward, then reverse until the maximum amount of material is thrown clear.3. Lower the track onto the planks.4. Repeat the procedure for the other track.5. Clean in and around the carrier rollers and track rollers.6. Lower the implement onto a plank.Engine Stopping
Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load, can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components. Follow the stopping procedure outlined below to allow the engine to cool and to prevent excessive temperatures.
Never turn the disconnect key to OFF while the engine is running. 1. Move the governor control lever forward to the LOW IDLE position. 2. Operate the engine at LOW IDLE for five minutes. This allows hot areas in the engine to cool gradually, extending engine life. 3. Turn the start key switch to "OFF" to stop the engine.Leaving the Machine
1. Remove the start switch key.2. Inspect the engine compartment for debris. Clean out any debris and paper to avoid fire hazard.3. Use handholds and steps, use both hands and face the machine, when dismounting. 4. Turn the disconnect switch OFF and remove the key. This could protect against vandalism. 5. When leaving the machine, close the windows and lock the cab door.6. Lock vandalism covers and cap, such as tool box cover, engine hood, side covers and fuel tank cap. 7. Unfasten the wing nut and remove the vandalism guards from cab. 8. Install the vandalism guards to the front window and cab door and lock them.
