Handle Showing the Different Plate. (1) Plate260-5545 Handle Assembly and 293-7182 Handle Assembly are similar in appearance. 260-5543 Handle Assembly and 293-7181 Handle Assembly are similar in appearance. The difference is the thickness of plate (1). Plate (1) is 1.6 mm (0.06 inch) thick on the 293-7181 Handle Assembly and on the 293-7182 Handle Assembly. Plate (1) is 1.2 mm (0.05 inch) thick on the 260-5543 Handle Assembly and on the 260-5545 Handle Assembly .The 260-5543 Handle Assembly and the 260-5545 Handle Assembly must be used on the Group 1 models. The thicker plate prevents adaptability of the 293-7181 Handle Assembly and the 293-7182 Handle Assembly on these models. The 260-5543 Handle Assembly and the 260-5545 Handle Assembly are adequate for the Group 1 models because the window that is used on these models is light. The 293-7181 Handle Assembly and the 293-7182 Handle Assembly must be used on the Group 2 models. The thicker plate makes these handles more rugged in these applications. The window that is used on these models is heavier than the window that is used on the Group 1 models. When you install new window handles on the models in Group 2, you must adjust the window. Vibration of the window must be minimized when the window is in the raised position. Excessive vibration occurs when the gap between the striker assembly on the window frame and the lock pin on the handle is excessive.

Adjust the position of the handle on the window frame in order to reduce the gap between lock pin (4) and striker assembly (3). Slots (2) enable this adjustment.

There Should Be No Gap in this Location. (3) Striker Assembly (4) Lock Pin (5) No Gap
With the window in the raised position, adjust striker assembly (3) in order to ensure no gap (5) between the handle and the striker assembly. Make sure that the window is secure by shaking the window frame.Note: Adjust both handles, even if you are just replacing one.
