Personal injury or death may result from failure to adhere to the following procedures.Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.Clean up all leaked or spilled fuel. Do not smoke while working on the fuel system.Turn the disconnect switch OFF or disconnect the battery when changing fuel filters.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolts (1) and use two people to remove grill assembly (2). The weight of grill assembly (2) is approximately 24 kg (53 lb).

Open access door (3).

Disconnect hose assembly (4).

Remove bolts (5) and use two people to remove grill assembly (6). The weight of grill assembly (6) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

Disconnect clips (7) and reposition hose assemblies (8).Note: Make sure that the fitting does not turn when you loosen hose assembly (9).
Disconnect hose assembly (9).

Remove bolt (12), three bolts (13), washers (11), and fuel cooler (10).Installation Procedure
Install the fuel cooler in the reverse order of removal.
Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of bolts (12) and (13).
Tighten bolts (12) and (13) to a torque of 45 5 N m (33 4 lb ft).
