(C) Transmission and torque converter scavenge section The power train oil pump is a three-section gear type pump. The pump is driven by an input shaft . The input shaft is driven by the engine flywheel.During operation, oil enters each section of the pump through inlet passages in the pump body. The oil fills the space between the gear teeth. When the gears turn, oil is sent through outlet passages in the pump body.The transmission and torque converter scavenge section "C" draws oil from the transmission and bevel gear case and the torque converter housing. The oil passes through a screen before the oil leaves the torque converter housing. The oil passes through a screen before the oil leaves the transmission and bevel gear case. Output oil from pump section "C" is returned to the main case for lubrication.Steering clutch and brake charging section "B" draws oil from the oil reservoir in the main case. The oil is drawn through the screen in the suction manifold. Output oil from steering clutch and brake charging section "B" passes through the power train oil filter and then flows to the steering clutch and brake packs. Torque converter charging section "A" draws oil from the oil reservoir in the main case. The oil is drawn through the screen in the suction manifold. The screen prevents debris in the power train oil from damaging the power train components. The oil then flows to torque converter charging pump section "A" . Charging oil from torque converter charging section "A" is regulated by the torque converter inlet relief valve and the torque converter outlet relief valve. When the oil exits the torque converter, it flows through the power train oil cooler. After the oil is cooled, it flows to the lubrication distribution manifold. The manifold directs the oil to the steering clutches and brakes. The oil cools and lubricates the steering clutches and brakes.
