This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS5608" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the May 24, 1999 (Revised August 1999) Service Letter. Changes have been made to the TERMINATION DATE and the Affected Product.

In some applications the blade tip bracket (center) wear strip on 12H, 120H, 135H, 140H, 143H, 160H, and 163H Motor Graders may wear through before the outside blade bracket wear strips indicate a need for replacement. Failure to maintain these wear items may result in damage to the 8W1751 Tip Cylinder Bracket.

Adding Blade Tip Bracket Extensions
1. Remove 8W5229 and 8W5231 side-shift cylinder guards.2. Cut out 115mm by 80mm opening on each guard. (See Illustration for detailed dimensions.)3. Remove two 8W1749-retainer plates from 8W1751-tip cylinder bracket. Remove used 5T8367-wear strip with shims out from under bracket.4. Install new *(2) 5T8367 wear strips to bracket, note half will be showing on each side. (see Illustration)5. Assemble one 169-0919 block to each side of bracket over the half wear strip showing with (6) 0S1573 bolts and (6) 5P8245 washers (retainer plates will be assembled later).6. Shim space between wear strip and tip bracket, using 2G3219 and 2G3221 shims as required to maintain 0.13 to 0.89 clearance between blade rail and wear strip.7. Remove previously installed bolts and washers. Using these bolts and washers assemble 8W1749 retainer plates to tip bracket. Torque bolts to 105 20 N M.8. Replace the *(4) 5T8366 wear strips on the outside blade brackets. For procedure see the Operation and Maintenance Manual.9. Lubricate moldboard rail with drylube. (1U8268)10. Reinstall modified side-shift cylinder guards.*Wear strips not included in this program
