Types of Hazards
Hazards are identified by the machine operators. Hazards contain the default zone information which is used to create a zone when a hazard notification is sent into the office from a machine.Hazard types and zones share the same attributes, for example, name, color, speed limit. This likeness is because a hazard can be converted directly into a zone. However, hazards also have length and width attributes.Adding a Hazard Type
Perform the following procedure:
Click "Tasks", "Hazards", and "New Hazard Type".
Assign properties:
Enter a name for the hazard type. Hazard types have a limit of 32 characters.
Choose a display color for the hazard (called a zone color). (Optional)
Enter an entry and exit message (Optional). This message will display on the on-board system as the machine operator enters and leaves the hazard area. Entry and exit messages have a limit of 128 characters.
Enter the speed limit for the hazard. (Optional) If entering a speed limit, a speed zone is created.
Enter the length and width of the hazard.
If the hazard is to be an avoidance zone, select the check box.
Select "Notify on Zone Entry" and "Notify on Zone Exit" to create an incident event. This event will allow the office to know that a machine has entered and exited the zone. (Optional)
Click "Save".
Click "Next", or click "Machine Classes" on the left to go to the next screen.
Assign machine classes:
Click the machine class to apply to this zone, then click the add icon to add the machine class. (Optional)
Click "Save".Hazard types are stored in a file called TerrainFeatures.mwf. The user is able to generate this file and send the file to one or more machines.Editing a Hazard Type

Click "Tasks" and "Manage Hazard Types".
Locate the hazard type to edit, and double-click the name or click the edit icon. Type the name of the hazard in the search box if necessary to locate the hazard.
Edit changes necessary to the properties, as well as the classes the changes may affect.
Click "Save".Archiving Hazard Types
Perform the following procedure:
Click "Tasks" and "Manage Hazard Types".
Find the hazard type to archive, and click the archive/restore hazard type icon.The hazard type disappears from the view.Restoring a Hazard Type
Perform the following procedure:
Click "Tasks" and "Manage Hazard Types".
Click the show/hide archived items icon.The icon becomes gold in color. Archived hazard types are shown in the list in gray text.
Find the hazard type to restore, then click the Archive/restore hazard types icon.The category is displayed in the category list in black text.Sending Hazards to a Machine

Select "Generate Onboard Files", and click the add icon.
Enter a job name, group and description, or do not edit the default settings.

From the "Generated File Type" drop-down list, select "Terrain Features".
Click "Run Now".The files are sent to the following folder:<drive>:\mstarFiles\systems\main\onboard\
