This Special Instruction is intended to give information on assembling the pony rod seal for certain well stimulation pumps.Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.Also ensure that you are following all safety precautions while you are performing the procedures outlined in this document.Required Parts

Prepare a flat surface for the pony rod seal assembly.

Place the pony rod seal housing with the O-ring groove up.
Using a dead blow hammer, lightly tap pony rod seal (2) into seal retainer (1). Refer to Illustration 3 for the proper installation of the seal.

Apply grease to one O-ring (3).
Install one O-ring (3) into the O-ring groove of the pony rod seal housing.

Place housing (4) over the pony rod seal (2)

Using your fingers to hold the seal in the housing, flip the assembly over so the outside face of the seal is now visible.

Place seal retainer (5) onto housing (4).
Apply Loctite 242® Medium Strength Blue Threadlocker to the six bolts.

Attach seal retainer (5) to housing (4) with six bolts (6).
Flip the housing assembly over and attach the gasket to the housing with gasket maker.
Generously apply 129-1966 Multipurpose Grease or equivalent to the pony rod seal. The housing assembly is ready for installation.
