Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine or release of air pressure or oil pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To help prevent possible injury before testing and adjusting any air system or hydraulic system, perform the procedure in the Testing and Adjusting, "General Information" section.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Before this procedure is performed, the air must be purged from the hydraulic lines for the service brakes. Perform the procedure in Testing and Adjusting, "Brake System Air - Purge".
When it is necessary to work under the machine with the body (bed) raised, attach the body (bed) retaining cables to the rear tow points. Install the rear tow point pins through the ends of the retaining cables.Failure to properly secure the body (bed) may result in personal injury or death.
A raised body (bed) may fall unexpectedly if a damaged cable is used. Use of a damaged cable could result in personal injury or death.Inspect the cable for damage and do not use a cable that is damaged.Wear gloves when handling the cable.
Start the machine.
Raise the truck body and install the truck body retaining cables in order to gain access to Control Valve (Brake) (1). Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8349, "Cable (Truck Body Retaining)" for more information.

(2) Pressure tap near the "FSB" port
Connect a 8T-0857 Pressure Gauge ( 10000 kPa (1450 psi)) to pressure tap (2) near the "FSB" port on Control Valve (Brake) (1).
Allow the accumulators to charge fully.
Apply the service brakes several times. Note: Make sure that the oil is at normal operating temperature.
Record the pressure which is indicated at pressure tap (2). Note: The pressure at pressure tap (2) should read 4950 150 kPa (718 22 psi).
If the pressure reading on the gauge is not within the proper range, then refer to Troubleshooting, "Brake System" in order to troubleshoot the problem.
Remove the test equipment.
Lower the truck body and remove the truck body retaining cables. Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8349, "Cable (Truck Body Retaining)" for more information.
