Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Before installation or removal of any hydraulic test equipment, relieve the pressure in the hydraulic tank by slowly loosening the filler cap.
Note: Mark all the hoses, the lines and the tubes for identification purposes. Plug all the hoses, the lines and the tubes in order to prevent foreign material from entering the system.Note: Drain all the fluids in a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Lower the implements to the ground. Relieve the pressure at the hydraulic oil tank. Move the bulldozer control levers to the float position.
Remove bolts (1) and guard assembly (2) .

Remove two hydraulic hose assemblies (3) from the tilt cylinder.

Remove the bolts and retainers (4) and (5). There will be a shim pack under retainer (4) .

Attach a lifting device to the tilt cylinder.
Install a 30 mm eyebolt (6) to the upper pin. Remove the pin.
Remove hose bracket (7) .
Remove pin (8). Remove the tilt cylinder. The weight of the tilt cylinder is 51 kg (112.0 lb).
