Repeat Failures of the Excavator Bucket Hinge
Repeat hinge plate cracking or failures is typically attributed to high hinge plate stress. The stress is due to the customers-specific application. An application with a high amount of corner loading of the bucket will cause the cracking or failures.

Trim two hinge fingers (A) so that the undertube will fit correctly.
Remove two gussets (B) from the bucket. Retain gussets (B) .Note: Refer to Special Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures" before performing any welding. Remove any paint, dirt, grease, or debris from the mounting surfaces.

Locate undertube (3) to the bottom of the hinge plate.Note: Ensure that the front edge of undertube (3) is inline with the front of upper torque tube (C) .Note: If required, cut undertube (3) to the proper length. The proper length of the undertube may vary, depending on the width of your bucket.
Weld undertube (3) into place using the guidelines in Table 10.
