PRIORITY - PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FOR REWORKING THE SECONDARY BRAKE ON CERTAIN 770 AND 772 OFF-HIGHWAY TRUCKS
MODELS INVOLVED - 770 And 772 Off-Highway Trucks
Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The Secondary Brake system needs to be reworked on the products listed below. The existing Secondary Brake system only applies the rear wheel brakes when the secondary brake pedal is applied. By performing this program on the 770 and 772 Off-Highway Trucks, the front and rear wheel brakes will be actuated when the secondary brake pedal is applied even if the front brakes have been disabled using the control switch in the cab.
An updated version of the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) will be provided in exchange for previous versions of the Operation and Maintenance Manual. The updated version of the machine Operation and Maintenance Manual will reflect the changes made to the braking operation and maintenance instructions.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 12Oct2007 when scheduling this service.
