Avoidance Zones
A beeper is used to alert an operator of an approaching avoidance zone. It is strongly recommended that you use a harness that has a beeper.
Avoidance zones are certain areas on the site. Machines must stay away from the avoidance zones. Avoidance zones can cover the entire mine. The avoidance zones can also be specific to a particular design surface.CAESbasic provides avoidance zone guidance to the blade tips. If the distance from the ripper to the blade has been configured, guidance to avoidance zones is also given relative to the rippers. However, this guidance is based on the width of the blade. Site Avoidance Zones
When the system is turned on, the site avoidance zones are automatically loaded from the data card. The avoidance zones are visible in the plan view on the display. Guidance is given to the site avoidance zones until the system is turned off.Design Avoidance Zones
Design avoidance zones are specific to a design surface. The design avoidance zones load from the data card as the design is loaded.Design avoidance zones are also visible in the plan view of the display. Guidance is given to the design avoidance zones while the design surface remains loaded.Warning Levels
As the machine approaches the avoidance zone, three levels of warning occur.Note: The warning distance for the avoidance zone can be set differently for each selected machine type.If the machine is within three times the warning distance the avoidance zone becomes filled with a magenta color on the display. Also, the "Avoid. Dist." text appears on the screen which shows the distance and direction to the closest avoidance zone, if the software has been configured for this option.

Once inside the configured warning distance, the following occurs:
The icon for the machine flashes with a warning symbol in the plan view.
The "Avoid" indicator appears in the bottom right corner of all guidance screens.
A beeper will beep three times when you enter the warning distance.
Illustration 2 g01014629
The following occurs if the machine enters the avoidance zone.
The yellow flashing message "Avoid. Zone Entered" appears. This message appears in all screens of the CAESbasic software.
A series of beeps sound until you exit the zone.
The "Avoid. Dist." text shows a negative value.
The location at which your machine enters the avoidance zone and exits the avoidance zone will be recorded in the program log.Refer to Systems Operation, RENR7886, "Avoidance Zone" for more information.

No Avoidance Zone Guidance
When the message "Direction Unknown", "V. Low Accuracy", "Old Position", "No GPS Data", or "Invalid GPS Data" appears, avoidance zone guidance will not be given. When this happens the following occurs:
The "NO AVOID" indicator appears on the guidance screens.
The "Avoid. Dist." text item appears as "N/A", if the option is configured.Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Flashing Messages" for more information on the quality of the GPS.On-Screen Linework
In addition to vertical guidance information, a design can include the following on-screen linework:
Site Map
Background Plan
Design Boundary
Road AlignmentsYou can select the background elements for horizontal guidance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Horizontal Guidance
