(6) Bearing housing for the turbocharger Coolant flows from the source of the jacket water coolant (5) to the jacket water pump (4). The coolant is sent through engine oil cooler (2).The coolant flows into the water jacket of cylinder block (1) at the right rear cylinder. The coolant goes to both sides of the cylinder block through distribution manifolds. The distribution manifolds are connected to the water jacket of all the cylinders. The main distribution manifold is located just above the main bearing oil gallery.The coolant flows upward through the water jackets and around the cylinder liners from the bottom to the top. The hottest temperature is near the top of the cylinder liners. The water jacket is made smaller near the top of the cylinder liners. The smaller passageway causes the coolant to flow faster for better cooling of the cylinder liners. Coolant from the top of the cylinder liners goes into the cylinder head which sends the coolant around the parts which have the hottest temperature. Coolant then goes to the top of the cylinder head. Coolant flows through an elbow. There is an elbow at each cylinder head. Coolant goes into a water manifold at each bank of cylinders. Coolant goes through the manifold to regulator housing (3).Regulator housing (3) has an upper flow section and a lower flow section. The regulator housing uses four temperature regulators. The sensing bulbs of the four temperature regulators are in the coolant in the lower section of the housing. Before the regulators open, cold coolant is sent through the bypass line back to the inlet of jacket water pump (4). As the temperature of the coolant increases, the regulators start to open and coolant flow in the bypass line is restricted. Some coolant is sent through the outlets to the source for the jacket water coolant (5). Also, coolant flows from upper regulator housing (3) to the bearing housing for the turbocharger (6). The coolant is then returned to the source for the jacket water coolant (5).The radiator provides coolant for the jacket water cooling system and for the separate circuit cooling system. The folded core radiator has individual core assemblies. The core assemblies are designed to increase cooling efficiency and serviceability. Each of these core assemblies can be serviced individually by removing the top tank.There is a low coolant level indicator for the jacket water cooling system and for the separate circuit cooling system. The low coolant level indicators are located on the radiator top tank assembly.
