Adjust
The parking brake caliper has an automatic adjustment that functions every time full stroke is used. In order to check the adjustment, actuate the lever twenty times to the top of the lever stroke. The effort should increase as each stroke is applied.If the automatic adjustment has not been done for an extended period, excessive amounts of lever actuation is required to properly adjust the caliper.If excessive lever activation is required or the lever feels loose after actuating 20 times, use the following procedure. 1. Remove the cap over the hole in the center of the input lever assembly. This is on the parking brake caliper which is located on front of the differential, below the cab.2. Insert a 6.35 mm (.25 in) Allen wrench through the hole into the end of the rod. Turn counterclockwise until the rod is backed out fully.3. Use the Allen wrench in order to turn the rod clockwise until the pad to rotor gap is 0.38 mm (.015 in) on each side of the rotor.4. Replace the cap on the hole in the lever assembly.
