(1) Screen housing
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Remove the plug from the bottom of screen housing (1) and drain the oil into a suitable container. Clean the drain plug and install the drain plug. Note: Removing the drain plug from the bottom of screen housing (1) may not drain all of the oil from the screen.
Remove screen housing (1). Remove the screen. Discard the used screen.
Wash screen housing (1) in clean, nonflammable solvent.
Inspect the seal in the base of screen housing (1). If the seal is damaged, replace the seal with a new seal.
Install the new screen in screen housing (1). Install the screen housing.
Start the engine and operate the engine at low idle. Check for leaks and make any necessary repairs.

(2) Sight gauge
Observe the oil level when the oil is warm and the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position. Make sure that the parking brake is engaged.
Maintain the oil level to the FULL mark in sight gauge (2). If necessary, add oil.
