Detent magnet coil connectionsThis diagnostic code is recorded when the current of the detent magnet coil circuit is above normal. When the blade control handle is moved to the detent position, the detent magnet coil holds the blade control handle in the detent position. During normal operation, the ECM energizes the detent coil at all times when the machine is operating.Note: Ensure that CID 1488 FMI 06 for the detent coil is active before performing this procedure. The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
The energize circuit of the detent magnet coil is shorted to ground.
The detent magnet coil has failed.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely. The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear these diagnostic codes when the original problem has been corrected. Ensure that the CID 1488 FMI 06 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Test Step 1. CHECK THE DETENT COIL
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Observe the status of the diagnostic code indicator.
Disconnect the machine harness from the detent magnet coil.Expected Result:The active FMI 06 diagnostic code changes to an active FMI 05 diagnostic code when the detent coil is disconnected from the machine harness. Results:
YES - The active FMI 06 diagnostic code changes to a FMI 05 diagnostic code when the detent coil is disconnected. The circuit is correct.Repair: The circuit is correct. The detent coil has failed. Repeat this step in order to verify the detent coil failure.STOP
NO - The FMI 06 diagnostic code remains active. Disconnecting the solenoid did not affect the status of the active diagnostic code. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. CHECK THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT OF THE DETENT COIL FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position. The machine harness remains disconnected from the switch.
Disconnect the machine harness from the detent coil.
Disconnect the machine harness connectors J1 and J2 from the ECM.
At machine harness connector J1, measure the resistance from the detent coil signal contact J1-67 (wire H713-PK) to frame ground. Measure the resistance from the detent coil signal contact J1-67 (wire H713-PK) to all of the other ECM J1 and J2 contacts.Expected Result:Each resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms. Results:
OK - Each resistance is greater than 5000 ohms. The machine harness is correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - Each resistance is not greater than 5000 ohms.Repair: There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between the detent coil signal wire H713-PK and the circuit that has a low resistance measurement. Refer to the complete machine Electrical System Schematic. Examine all of the connectors in the circuits for points in the machine harness where the circuits could be shorted. For information on testing for short circuits and finding short circuits, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Wiring Harness (Short Circuit) - Test". Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE
Inspect the contacts and clean the contacts of
