Remove the winch, if equipped. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR5568, "Winch - Remove".
Remove the ripper assembly, if equipped. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR5555, "Ripper - Remove". Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Put location marks and marks for the purpose of orientation on all fittings.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is approximately 36 L (9.5 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7479, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the proper procedure. Note: Step 2 is not required if a winch is removed.
