This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS43072" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 21Apr2010 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Termination Date.

PROBLEM
The connector on the oil pressure sensor may suffer premature failure due to pin fretting.
The Inlet Manifold Temperature Derate setting may cause the engine to derate at too low of an ambient operating temperature.

ACTION REQUIRED
Replace the engine oil pressure sensor and the associated harness connector. Change the values for the High Inlet Air Temperature Warning and the High Inlet Air Temperature Derate.
Refer to the attached rework procedure.
Factory passwords are required to make changes to the Inlet Air Temperature Warning and the High Inlet Air Temperature Derate.

Reasonable travel time and mileage will be allowed. Multiple engines at the same location may be able to be serviced during the same visit.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
1. Replace the 161-1705 Oil Pressure Sensor with a new 293-5535 Oil Pressure Sensor.
2. Remove the mating connector for the oil pressure sensor from the engine harness and replace it with a new 237-0227 Connector AS (Plug). Refer to Image 1.1.1

3. Connect the new 237-0227 Connector AS (Plug) to the new 293-5535 Oil Pressure Sensor. If needed, use tie straps to ensure that the wiring harness does not chafe, but do not strap the harness as to impose any tension on the connectors.
4. Connect Cat ET and access the "Monitoring System" from the "Service" Menu.
5. Change the values for "High Engine Inlet Air Temperature". Refer to Image 1.2.1 for the correct values. Factory passwords are required to make these changes.
