Installation Procedure

Apply a bead of Tooling (A) to lower edges (3) of the cylinder block.
Install the gasket. Apply a bead of Tooling (A) to the lower edges of the gasket.

Position front housing (2) and the gasket on the engine.
Install bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 35 8 N m (26 6 lb ft).
Remove the excess Tooling (A) from the following locations: cylinder block, front housing and oil pan.End By:
Install the alternator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Alternator - Remove and Install".
Install the water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Pump - Install".
Install the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Install".
Install the auxiliary water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Install".
Install the camshaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Camshaft - Install".
Install the accessory drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Accessory Drive - Install".
Install the front gear group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Group (Front) - Install".
