Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.

Place the cribbing under the elevator chain and flights, as shown.

Use Tooling (A) to raise the elevator chain and flights from the idler.

Remove four bolts (1) from cover (2) . Remove cover (2) and the gasket from idler (3) .

Attach Tooling (B) , lifting chains and a hoist to the idler.

Remove nut (4) from bolt (5) . Remove bolt (5) and washer (6) from idler (3) . Remove idler (3) from the elevator. The idler weighs 36 kg (80 lb). Repeat the procedure for the other side.
