5. Remove pin (7) with tool (B). Remove four bolts (4) previously loosened. 6. Remove pan hardener bracket (3). The bracket weighs 20 kg (45 lb). 7. Remove three bolts (10) and cover (11) from brake guard (8). Repeat this on the other side of rear axle (9). 8. Disengage the release bolt (12) by turning counterclockwise approximately 78.8 mm (3.5 in). Repeat this for the other brake. 9. When release bolt (12) is backed out 78.8 mm (3.5 in) ensures that the parking brake is released on the rear axle. 10. Disconnect grease line fitting (13) from suspension cylinder rod end (14) on the rear axle. Repeat this step on the other end of the rear axle. 11. Remove four nuts (16) and reposition grease line (15). 12. Disconnect breather hose assembly (17). 13. Remove four nuts (19). Reposition breather hose assembly (17) and grease line (18). 14. Disconnect two air lines (20). Remove two straps (21). 15. Disconnect grease line (23). Remove elbow (22). 16. Remove bolt (24) from suspension cylinder at the rear axle. Repeat this procedure for the other suspension cylinder. 17. Remove pin (25) using tool (G) from the suspension cylinder. Repeat this procedure on the other suspension cylinder on the rear axle. 18. With tool (A) under the center axle, raise the trailer, chassis and center axle approximately 102 to 152 mm (4 to 6 in). As the chassis is being raised, the chassis will separate from the rear axle. The weight of the rear axle and tires is 3825 kg (8500 lb).
The rear axle with tires mounted may raise off the floor prior to separation. If this occurs, be aware that due to the weight of the rear axle and tires, it will drop clear of the two rear suspension cylinders.
19. With the rear tires on the floor, place blocks to the front and rear of the tires. 20. Place a strap around the A-frame assembly (27). Attach tool (D) on each side to strap and body.21. Remove eight bolts (26). Gradually lower the A-frame assembly (27) using tool (D), until it comes to rest on a fixture capable of supporting it. The A-frame assembly weighs 158 kg (350 lb). Two individuals are required to lower the A-frame using tool (D).22. After the A-frame has been lowered, remove tool (D) and the strap. 23. Remove the blocks from the tires and roll the rear axle, A-frame assembly and tires clear of the trailer chassis. 24. Place blocks to the front and rear of both tires and place tool (F) to the A-frame assembly (27). 25. Lower tool (A) until center axle tire are sitting on the floor. Remove tool (A). 26. Remove bolt (29) from bracket (28). 27. Using tool (G) remove pin (30) from bracket (28). After pin (30) removal, set the bracket aside. 28. Remove six bolts (32) and two ring clamps (31). 29. Inspect bearing (33). If necessary, replace with a new bearing into A-frame assembly (27). 30.
