Troubleshooting
The Wheel Loader Payload Measurement System (WLPMS) provides built-in diagnostic capabilities, designed to make troubleshooting of the system as simple as possible. This section describes the use of the diagnostics in troubleshooting the system.First, a description of the diagnostics is given. This description includes the fault displays that can occur during normal display mode operation. The description also tells how to use the system status display mode. This is followed by a section on fault isolation and a section on how to apply the circuit diagnostics in troubleshooting. When in the system service display mode, faults in the system can be isolated and fixed in minimal time with existing service tools.System Diagnostics
If a fault should occur that is detectable by the Payload Measurement Control (PMC), warning is given to the operator by the Payload Operator's Display (POD). The manner in which the fault is displayed on the POD depends on the nature of the fault. The faults that can be detected by the system are listed below. If a fault occurs during operation, the operator is alerted by the POD. The red fault light will come on and remain on, as long as the fault is present. If the fault light blinks, this indicates an intermittent fault, but it is still stored for later recall.Service Display Mode
The WLPMS provides a built-in service tool in the service display mode. It is possible to identify both continuous and intermittent faults in the system. If the fault light comes on and remains on, it indicates the presence of continuous fault. If the fault light comes on and then goes off later, an intermittent fault is indicated. In either case, the fault cause can be identified using the service display mode.To access the Service Display Mode, move the CALIBRATE/NORMAL switch in the CALIBRATE position. Then press the CLEAR switch EIGHT times. After the switch is pressed and released the eighth time, the display should show F0, indicating that the POD is now in the system status display mode.Fault Scroll Mode
Once into the system status display mode, fault codes will be displayed on the POD. If no faults are present, F0 will remain on the display. The presence of a single fault would cause the F0 to be replaced by a single fault code between F1 and F10.Multiple faults would cause the display to show the first fault momentarily, and then the second fault, up to the last fault that has occurred, and it would then return to display the first fault and repeat the cycle. When a fault is being displayed, the red light will be illuminated if the fault is present. A fault code displayed when the red light is off indicates a fault that has occurred, but is not happening at the present time.Fault Count Mode
It is possible to determine how many times a given fault has occurred by pressing the STORE switch when that fault code is being displayed on the POD. This will cause the POD to display the fault code and
