Disassembly Procedure

A 1U-8306 Spanner Wrench 1 Start By:
Remove the front bogie. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bogie (Front) - Remove".
Remove the rear bogie. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bogie (Rear) - Remove".

Remove plug (2), bolts (3), and cover (4) from roller assembly (1).

Bend the tab on lockwasher (5) in order to remove nut (6).
Use Tooling (A) and remove nut (6), lockwasher (5), and bearing washer (7).

Remove bearing cone (8) and roller assembly (1) from shaft (9). If necessary, remove the bearing cup from the roller assembly.

Remove Duo-Cone seal (10) from roller assembly (1).
Remove bearing cone (11) from roller assembly (1). If necessary, remove the bearing cup from the roller assembly.
Repeat Steps 1 through 6 in order to disassemble the other roller assemblies.

Use two people and place minor bogie (14) in a suitable vise. The weight of the minor bogie is approximately 28 kg (62 lb).
Remove Duo-Cone seal (12) from retainer (13).
Raise the temperature of retainer (13). Remove the retainer from shaft (9).
Repeat Steps 9 and 10 in order to remove the other retainer from shaft (9).

Use two people and place minor bogie (14) in a suitable press. The weight of the minor bogie is approximately 26 kg (57 lb).
If necessary, raise the temperature of minor bogie (14) around shaft (9). Use the press in order to remove shaft (9) from minor bogie (14).
Repeat Step 13 in order to remove the other shaft from minor bogie (14).
