Always rotate the jaw set so that the jaw being worked on is positioned on the bottom. Parts must be lifted and removed from lower jaw. Parts are heavy and will fall if removed from upper jaw.Crush injury. Could cause serious injury or death.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden work tool movement.Sudden movement of the work tool can cause injury to persons near the work tool.To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the work tool is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the work tool.
Inspect the Cutting Edges
Clean the work tool.

Place the work tool in a horizontal position. Open the jaw of the work tool.
Lock the jaw in an open position.
Close the ball valves on the host machine to lock the moveable jaw in open position.

Inspect the cutting edges on the cutters (1) for wear. If the cutting edge is worn or if the cutter is damaged, the cutting edge must be changed or the cutter must be replaced.
Inspect the current cutting edge on the cutter. Inspect the other cutting edges on the cutter. Each cutter has four edges that can be used.
Inspect the radius of the cutting edge on the cutter. If the radius of the cutting edge is greater than 5 mm (0.2 inch), the cutting edge must be changed or the cutter must be replaced.
If the other cutting edge on the same side is not worn, rotate the cutter and install the cutter. If the other cutting edge is worn, turn the opposite side of the cutter outward and install the cutter.
Unlock the jaws from the open position.Note: If all of the cutting edges are worn, the cutters must be replaced.Replace the Cutters
Clean the work tool.

In order to replace the cutters (1), remove bolts (2), shims (3) and cutters (1) from the work tool.
Thoroughly clean all contact surfaces before installing the new cutters. Remove any rust, paint, nicks, and burrs from the surfaces.
Install 2 mm (0.079 inch) of shims behind one side of the cutters. Install the new cutters (1).
Install the new cutters on the other side without shims.
Install bolts (2). Tighten the bolts to the proper torque. Refer to Specifications, SENR3130, "Torque Specifications" for the proper torque value.Note: Use new bolts when the cutter will be replaced.
Unlock the jaws from the open position.
Slowly close the jaws on the work tool.
Measure the clearance between the cutter (1) of the movable jaw and the cutter (1) of the fixed jaw. The clearance between the two cutters must be less than 0.5 mm (0.02 inch). Use the shims (3) to adjust the amount of clearance.Note: On the shear jaw sets, the clearance between the guide blade and cutter of the fixed jaw must also be checked.Note: The cutting edge and guide blades must
