Disassemble Reverse Clutch
start by: a) remove clutch shaft. 1. Loosen spanner bolt using tool (A). 2. Remove spanner bolt (1). 3. Pull spider from clutch shaft using tool (B). 4. Remove bearing carrier (2). 5. Remove bearing (3) and put clutch shaft on transmission repair stand. 6. Pull reverse clutch loose from shaft using tool (C). Remove clutch assembly from shaft. 7. Remove bolts and locks (4) from dump valve cover. 8. Remove dump valve cover (5), spacer (6), piston (7), and spring (8). 9. Remove clutch housing bolts (9) and locks (10). 10. Install two 5/8"-11NC forged eyebolts (11). Fasten hoist and lift clutch cylinder (12). 11. Remove clutch springs (13). 12. Remove clutch discs (14). 13. Remove clutch piston (15) from clutch cylinder. 14. Remove piston seal (16). 15. Remove piston seal expander (17). 16. Remove cylinder piston seal (18).17. Remove cylinder piston seal expander.Assemble Reverse Clutch
start by: 1. Install cylinder piston seal expander (1). 2. Install cylinder piston seal (2). 3. Install piston seal expander (3). 4. Install piston seal (4). 5. Install piston (5) in cylinder. 6. Hit piston with soft hammer until it is seated in cylinder. 7. Install clutch cylinder bolts and locks (6). 8. Install clutch discs. Start with a brass disc (7) and then install a steel disc (8). 9. Install clutch release springs (9). 10. Install clutch back plate (10). Make sure dowels (11) in cylinder are started in holes on back plate. Install clutch cylinder bolts and bend locks. 11. Install spring (12), piston (13), spacer (14), and cover (15). 12. Install dump valve cover bolts and locks (16). Shaft taper must be clean and dry. Use a cleaning solvent. DO NOT USE KEROSENE. 13. Put clutch cylinder on shaft. Use weight of clutch for preload on shaft taper. Using a depth micrometer (17), measure distance from top of shaft to clutch cylinder.14. Push the clutch on shaft using tool (A) until the clutch moves .052 to .072 in. (1.32 to 1.83 mm) on the shaft. Use the depth micrometer and dial indicator to measure movement. 15. Install bearing (18). 16. Install bearing carrier (19). 17. Install spider (20), seal (21), and spanner bolt (22). 18. Tighten the spanner bolt on the spider to a torque of 1000 to 1390 lb. ft. (1350 to 1880 N m) using tool setup (B).
