EXCAVATOR,
Information:
Step 1. Check tension.
Determine if the track tension is adjusted properly.
Adjust track tension, as required.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU5758, "Track - Adjust".Detail...Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU5758, "Track - Adjust".Expected Result:The original problem is resolved. Results:
OK - Stop.
Not OK - Proceed to test step 2.Test Step 2. Check the linkage.
Locate the steering pedal linkage.
Adjust the linkage, as required. Reference: Refer to Power Train Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting, SENR3193, "Steer Control Linkage".How...Reference: Refer to Power Train Systems Operation Testing and Adjusting, SENR3193, "Steer Control Linkage".Expected Result:The original problem is resolved. Results:
OK - Stop.
Not OK - Proceed to test step 3.Test Step 3. Check pressure.
Remove the plug in the top cover of the HPCU.
While the machine is moving, take the motor case drain pressure.
NOTE the highest pressure reading.Expected Result:Motor case drain pressure is less than 2 psi. Results:
Yes - Proceed to test step 4.
No - Proceed to test step 5.Test Step 4. Check for metal debris in oil.Drain enough oil from the bottom plug of the final drives through a cloth in order to determine if there is metal debris in the oil.Expected Result:No metal was found in the oil. Results:
OK - Proceed to test step 6.
Not OK - Proceed to test step 7.Test Step 5. Check pressure.
Decrease engine speed to 1500 rpm.
Recheck motor case drain pressure.
If motor case drain pressure is still greater than 2 psi, the problem is a damaged motor on that side.
If the motor case drain pressure has fallen to near zero, the problem is a clogged cooler flow return screen (right side) or a clogged case drain return screen (left side) in the sump.
Repair components or replace components, as required.Expected Result:The original problem is resolved. Results:
OK - Stop.
Not OK - The cause of the problem is uncertain. Please call the technical staff with the information that you have gathered so far. Stop.Test Step 6. Drift test.Perform a drift test with the sync valve cutoff screw turned in.Expected Result:Select the appropriate condition:A. Machine responds in the form of an "S" pattern, using FORWARD and REVERSE.B. Machine responds in the form of a "C" pattern, using FORWARD and REVERSE.C. One track moves in REVERSE when the lever is barely pulled into FORWARD or one track moves FORWARD when the lever is barely pulled into REVERSE.Results:
A. - Proceed to test step 8.
B. - Proceed to test step 9.
C. - Proceed to test step 10.Test Step 7. Repair the final drive or replace the final drive.Expected Result:The original problem is resolved. Results:
OK - Stop.
Not OK - The cause of the problem is uncertain. Please call the technical staff with the information that you have gathered so far. Stop.Test Step 8.
Plug the hose from the transmission to the brake manifold.
Check the neutral setting of the servovalves by using drive pressure gauges.
Adjust the neutral setting of the pumps, as required.Expected Result:The original problem is resolved. Results:
OK - Stop.
Not OK - The cause of the problem is uncertain. Please call the technical staff with the information that you have gathered so far. Stop.Test
