Digging 1. Move the machine to the excavation area. Position the telescopic stick vertical to the ground. 2. Sufficiently and appropriately lower the boom with the telescopic stick kept vertical. Always know the exact location of buried cables and pipes. And also be alert to people and obstructions. 3. Extend the middle and/or inner tubes until the clamshell bucket is lowered into the excavation. When a slight down pressure is exerted on the excavation, the alarm buzzer in the cab will sound. This indicates "ready for digging." 4. Start digging. For best penetration, apply down pressure by operating the inner and middle tube cylinders as the bucket is closed.Do not use the falling force of the clamshell bucket for digging. Doing this can cause structural damage.5. When the bucket is fully closed, retract the telescopic stick and raise the boom.6. When the bucket clears the excavation and is raised enough for swinging, engage the swing control. Operate the control smoothly to avoid excessive clamshell swing.7. Begin opening the bucket slowly when approaching the dump area. Stop the swing or stick motion slowly and open the bucket fully.
