Removal Procedure
Park the machine on a hard, level surface. Lower the scraper bowl to the ground and engage the parking brake. Chock the wheels in order to prevent the machine from moving.

Remove 12 bolts (1) and the washers that secure light (2) and cover (3) to housing (4). Move light (2) away from the transmission. Remove cover (3) and the gasket from housing (4) .

Remove bolt (5) and the washer that secures cable (6) to cam (7). Remove nut (8) and the washer that secures cable (6) to housing (4). Move cable (6) away from the housing. Remove 18 bolts (9) and the washers that secure cover (10) to the transmission. Remove cover (10) and the gasket from the transmission.

Remove bolt (11) and the washer that secures spring assembly (12) to housing (4). Remove spring assembly (12) from housing (4). Remove bolt (13) that secures cam (7) to housing (4). Remove cam (7) from housing (4).

Remove two bolts (14) that secure two levers (15) to two rods (16) and housing (4). Remove two levers (15) from two rods (16) and housing (4) .

Note: Mark the position of the rods for installation purposes.
Loosen two locknuts (17) that secure two rods (16) to the hydraulic control valve. Remove two rods (16) from housing (4) and the hydraulic control valve. Remove two bolts (18) and the washers that secure two blocks (19) to housing (4). Remove two blocks (19) from housing (4) .Installation Procedure
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Install two blocks (19) to housing (4). Install the washers and two bolts (18) that secure two blocks (19) to housing (4). Install two rods (16) to housing (4) and the hydraulic control valve. Install the rods to the original position in the hydraulic control valve. Tighten two locknuts (17) that secure two rods (16) to the hydraulic control valve. Tighten the locknuts to a torque of 34 7 N m (25 5 lb ft).

Position two levers (15) to two rods (16) and housing (4). Install two bolts (14) that secure two levers (15) to two rods (16) and housing (4).

Position cam (7) to housing (4). Install bolt (13) that secures cam (7) to housing (4). Position spring assembly (12) to housing (4). Install bolt (11) and the washer that secures spring assembly (12) to housing (4) .

Position the gasket and cover (10) to the transmission. Install 18 bolts (9) and the washers that secure cover (10) to the transmission. Position cable (6) to the housing. Install the washer and nut (8) that secures cable (6) to housing (4). Install bolt (5) and the washer that secures cable (6) to cam (7) .

Adjust the transmission control linkage. Loosen two bolts (18). The detent assembly must be in the fourth gear of the cam in order to adjust the transmission control linkage. Center hole (X) around the hex
