Inspect the alignment and the balance of the driven equipment. Inspect the coupling. If necessary, disconnect the driven equipment and test the engine.Cylinder Head and Related Components
Inspect the components of the valve train. Check for signs of damage and/or wear to the valves, valve bridges, valve lifters, cylinder head gasket, etc. Inspect the condition of the camshafts. If a camshaft is replaced, new valve lifters must be installed.Connecting Rod Bearing
Inspect the connecting rod bearings and the crankshaft's bearing surfaces. Inspect the engine oil filters for debris from the bearings. Install new parts, if necessary.Gear Train
Inspect the condition of the gear train.Inspect the engine oil filters for nonferrous material. Flaking of nonferrous material could indicate worn gear train bearings.Crankshaft
Inspect the crankshaft and the related components. Inspect the main bearings and the bearing surfaces on the crankshaft.
