ACTION REQUIRED
Sort and inspect 170-0497 Bearing Cups in dealer parts stock for cracks at the four threaded holes around the bearing cup perimeter. Image1
Refer to the attached Rework Procedure.

3. Clean the bearing cup surface to remove the rust preventative from the area between each of the four threaded holes and the outside edge of the bearing cup.
4. Use a penetrating dye crack detection process to check for a crack in each of these four locations. Reference Cat P/N 4C-4804 aerosol liquid penetrant and Cat P/N 4C-4805 aerosol liquid developer in the 2008-2009 One Safe Source Catalog. Follow the dye penetrant instructions carefully to avoid missing a crack.
