7 9 15 Change of Travel speed The swivel supplies oil to and from the travel motors. A swivel is necessary to allow the flow of oil between the rotating upper structure and the stationary undercarriage.Swivel housing (21) is bolted to the undercarriage at its flange. Rotor (22) rotates within the swivel housing as the machine swings. A support arm is bolted to the rotor to allow it to rotate with the upper frame. The ports inside the swivel housing allow the passage of oil between the swivel housing and the rotor.High-pressure and low-pressure seals are located in between the sliding surfaces of the housing and rotor. The seals prevent oil leakage between the passages.
