Schematic of "Pump 1 Pressure" sensorThis diagnostic code is associated with the "Pump 1 Pressure" sensor. The FMI 08 means that the ECM has determined that the signal frequency or the signal pulse width is not within the expected range.Note: Before performing the following procedure, ensure that the diagnostic code for this procedure is active.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The pressure sensor has failed.
Intermittent connections or poor connections
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.Note: The Machine ECM is equipped with LED indicators that serve as a self-diagnostic check. With the key start switch ON, the following can be determined by the ECM indicator lights:
If all of the LED lights are Off, voltage is not being supplied to the Machine ECM. Check for power to the ECM.
If the yellow LED is Flashing, a communication error exists on the "CAN" data-link circuit.
If the yellow LED is constantly On, the Machine ECM software may be missing / not loaded.
If the red LED is Flashing, the Machine ECM has failed and may need replacement. Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the original diagnostic code has been corrected. Ensure that the diagnostic code of CID 2265 FMI 08 is active before performing this procedure.Note: Use the 146-4080 Digital Multimeter or the equivalent for the measurements in this procedure. Test Step 1. CHECK FOR POWER AT THE PRESSURE SENSOR.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the sensor.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
At the harness connector for the sensor, measure the voltage between contact A (wire 308-YL) and contact B (wire A209-BK).
At the machine harness connector for the sensor, measure the voltage (DCV) between contact A (wire 308-YL) and frame ground. Expected Result:The voltage is 24 1 DCV for both measurements. Results:
OK - The voltage is 24 1 DCV for both measurements. The voltage is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The voltage is NOT 24 1 DCV for both measurements. The voltage is not correct. The ECM has failed or the harness has failed.Repair: It is unlikely that an ECM has failed. Verify the harness. If the harness is correct, replace the ECM.STOPTest Step 2. VERIFY THE GROUND OF THE SENSOR.
At the machine harness connector of the sensor, place a jumper between contact B (wire A209-BK) and frame ground.
At the machine harness connector J1, measure the resistance between the contact J1-18 (wire A209-BK) and frame ground. Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. The circuit resistance is correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. The circuit resistance is not correct. The harness is open. Repair: Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. CHECK THE SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT.
