At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the fill cap on the hydraulic oil tank only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
1. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system by slowly loosening the fill cap located on top of the fuel/hydraulic tank.
View From Under Machine2. Remove cap (4), and drain the hydraulic oil from the fuel/hydraulic tank. The capacity of the hydraulic oil portion of the tank is 57 liters (14.8 U.S. gal). Remove cap (3), and drain the fuel from the fuel/hydraulic tank. The capacity of the fuel portion of the tank is 144 liters (37.4 U.S. gal).3. Remove nut (2) from each drain line, and remove the fuel drain line and the hydraulic oil drain line from bracket (1). Put plugs in the lines to keep dirt and debris out of the fuel system and the hydraulic system.
View From Under Operators Platform4. Remove socket head bolt (5) that holds the wiring harness and hoses to the bracket on the underside of the operators platform access cover.5. Remove the access cover from the operators platform.6. Put identification marks on ten hoses (6) for installation purposes. Disconnect ten hoses (6) at the fuel/hydraulic tank. Put plugs in the hoses to keep dirt and debris out of the hydraulic system.7. Put identification marks on the wires that are connected to hydraulic oil temperature switch (7). Disconnect the wires from the switch.8. Remove the bolt and washer holding clamp (8) to the fuel/hydraulic tank.9. Turn off the two fuel valves. Disconnect two hoses (9) from the fuel/hydraulic tank. Put plugs in the hoses to keep dirt and debris out of the fuel system. The fuel/hydraulic tank is equipped with two sight gauges. One gauge is for the hydraulic oil level, and the other gauge is for the fuel level. Do not mix the gauges after they have been removed.10. Remove two sight gauges (10) from the fuel/hydraulic tank. Put identification marks on the gauges as to their location in the fuel/hydraulic tank.11. Remove four connectors (11) from the fuel/hydraulic tank.12. Remove four upper bolts (12) and the washers that hold the fuel/hydraulic tank support to the operators platform. Loosen the two bottom bolts (12), but do not remove them at this time. Tilt the fuel/hydraulic tank support back away from the fuel/hydraulic tank.13. Fasten a hoist to fuel/hydraulic tank support (13) as shown. Remove two remaining bolts (12) and the washers. Remove the fuel/hydraulic tank support from the machine. The weight of the support is 48 kg (105 lb).
Do not damage the connectors or the sensor in the fuel/hydraulic tank during removal and installation.
14. Fasten a hoist to fuel/hydraulic tank (14) an shown. Remove the fuel/hydraulic tank from the machine. The weight of the fuel/hydraulic tank is 79 kg (175 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the fuel/hydraulic tank.15. Fasten a hoist to fuel/hydraulic
