Adjustment Procedure

Brake Pedals (1) Lock Bar
Unlock the lock bar (1) .

Service Brake Control (2) Plunger (3) Boot (4) Pin (5) Clip (6) Pushrod (7) Nut (8) Linkage Rod (9) PedalNote: The brakes have identical controls. Adjust one brake control at a time.
Move boot (3) to the side in order to gain access to the pushrod. (6) .
Depress the brake pedal (9) and release the brake pedal. This process is called stroking. Fully stroke and release brake pedal (9) six times in order to obtain the nominal position of the master cylinder piston.
Loosen nut (7) .
Back off pushrod (6). Insert a 1.5 mm (0.059 inch) feeler gauge between the stop on the brake pedal (9) and the plate assembly. Adjust pushrod (6) until contact is made with the master cylinder piston. Tighten nut (7) to a torque of 20 5 N m (177 44 lb in). Pushrod (6) should not be allowed to move when nut (7) is tightened.. Remove the feeler gauge.

Move pushrod (6) and rod end (8) in order to ensure that free play exists. Gently depress brake pedal (9). Measure the gap that is between the stop on the brake pedal and the plate assembly with a feeler gauge. The measurement on the gap should read 1.5 .3 mm (0.059 0.012 inch). Adjust the brake pedal if the gap is not within allowed specifications.
Install boot (3). Ensure that boot (3) is sealed properly against the master cylinder.
Repeat the above procedure for the other brake pedal.
