The following information explains the testing procedure for the hydraulic fan speed. Do not proceed until you have read and understand all of the steps required to complete this service.Required Tools

Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move travel direction switch (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate propulsion speed dial (2) counterclockwise to the MINIMUM position.

Move parking brake lever (3) to the ON position.

Move throttle control lever (4) to the LOW-IDLE position.

Move lock (5) out of the way, and move screed lift lever (6) into the (FLOAT) position. Lower the screed to the ground.

Move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.

Unlock latch (8), and open engine compartment cover (9).

Engage the lock on strut (10).

Install a small piece of reflective tape on the flange to which the fan blades (11) attach. Note: Make sure that only one piece of reflective tape is installed on the flange.

Remove four bolts (12), and remove hopper door (13).

Install a small piece of reflective tape on pulley (14).
Move engine start switch (7) to the start position. Release the switch when the engine starts.
Monitor the hydraulic oil temperature with Tool (D). Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches 42.5° 7.5°C (108.5° 13.5°F).
Move throttle control lever (4) to the HIGH-IDLE position. Use Tool (E) to monitor engine speed. Engine speed should be 2570 50 rpm. If the engine speed is not correct, troubleshoot the engine.
Use Tool (E) to monitor fan speed. The fan speed should be 2600 100 rpm.
Move throttle control lever (4) to the LOW-IDLE position.
Move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.
If the fan speed is within the specified range, go to Step 20. If the fan speed is outside the specified range, check the fan pressure, and then retest fan speed. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Hydraulic Fan) - Test and Adjust". Note: If the fan speed remains outside the specified range after the fan pressure has been set, troubleshoot the hydraulic components in the fan system.
Disengage the lock on strut (10) . Close engine compartment cover (9), and lock latch (8).
Position hopper door (13) in place, and install four bolts (12).
