TRACK-TYPE TRACTOR,
Information:
Machine Operating Temperature Range
The machine must function satisfactorily in the anticipated ambient temperature limits that are encountered during operation. The standard machine configuration is intended for use within an ambient temperature range of −15° C (5° F) to 48° C (118° F). Special configurations for different ambient temperatures are available. Consult your Cat dealer for additional information on special configurations of your machine.Procedures for Machine Travel
Make sure that no personnel are on the machine or near the machine to prevent any personal injury. Keep the machine under control always to prevent injury. Before machine operation, perform a daily inspection and make sure that all compartments are free from debris and foreign materials.Note: The swing lock and work tool control function must be engaged to travel the machine on public roads and on rail tracks. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Roading the Machine" for additional information.Note: The automatic engine speed control should be disabled during machine travel.Note: For proper machine control and proper braking, travel with the boom over the front steering axle. The functions of the steering and of the travel pedal are reversed when the steering wheel is over the fixed rear axle. When you travel for any distance, engage the swing lock and work tool control function. Keep the stick inward and carry the boom in a low position. When you start to travel up a steep grade, keep the boom as close as possible to the ground. When you travel uphill, keep the boom on the uphill side of the machine. When you travel on a slope, keep the boom in the roading position, or keep the boom on the downhill side of the machine.
Adjust the operator seat.
Fasten the seat belt.

Turn engine speed dial to the operating range.
Move the hydraulic lockout control to the UNLOCKED position.
Raise the boom far enough to provide sufficient ground clearance. On public roadways, place boom/stick in the roading position. On rails, place boom/stick in the rail travel position.

See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operator Controls" for additional information on the service brake pedal. After you come to a complete stop, engage the parking brake by pressing parking brake control (3).Downhill Travel
Traveling down a grade with wheel excavators at low engine speed or when the travel pedal is not depressed completely can produce abnormally high
