Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of engine components.Refer to the following procedure to allow the engine to cool and to prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger housing, which could cause oil coking problems.
Never turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position while the engine is running. Serious damage to the electrical system may result.
Note: It is safe to disconnect the battery while the DEF Purge Indicator Lamp is still lit. The DEF system will continue to cool and purge. The LED indicates that there is electricity remaining active on the machine until the lamp goes off.
Park the machine on level ground. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Stopping the Machine" for the recommended procedure.
While the machine is stopped, run the engine for 5 minutes at low idle. Idling the engine allows hot areas of the engine to cool gradually.
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position and remove the key.Engine Stop Control
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. If the engine does not stop, perform the following procedure.Note: The engine stop control is located in the second cab.

Open the second cab door on the left side of the machine.
Lift cover (1).
Push switch (2) upward. This action should stop the engine.Note: Use the engine start switch to stop the engine first. Use the engine stop control as an alternate method to stop the engine.
Return the switch to the original position. The engine will be enabled to start.Note: Do not operate the machine again until the malfunction has been corrected.
Use the method that follows if the previous steps do not stop the engine.
