Reset Circuit Breakers
Circuit Breaker Reset - Push the button in to reset the circuit breakers. If working properly, button will depressed. If the button does not stay in, or comes out shortly after being reset, have appropriate electrical circuit checked.
Directional Lights (1) - 15 amps.
Engine Shutdown (2) - 15 amps
Supplemental Steering (3) - 10 amps.
Key Switch (4) - 15 amps.
Alternator (5) - 80 amps.
Brake (6) - 20 amps
Air Conditioner (7) - 15 amps.
Parking, Stop and Tail Lights (8) - 15 amps.Windshield Wiper and Washer
Replace Blade
Inspect wiper blades, replace any blades that are hard or damaged.Fill Reservoir
When operating in freezing temperatures, use Caterpillar or any commercially available nonfreezing window washer solvent.

Service Ether Cylinder
The ether cylinder is located on the right side of the radiator guard. 1. Loosen the clamp (1) and unscrew ether bottle (2).2. Remove the used gasket and install the new gasket provided with each cylinder. Install the new cylinder. Tighten the clamp.Body and Frame
Repair Body-Inspect Frame for Cracks
To prevent personal injury or death, do not work under the truck with the body (bed) raised. When it is necessary to work under the truck with the body (bed) raised, install the body (bed) retaining pins through the pin holes in the frame and body.
1. Inspect the body. Repair the body if damaged or worn.2. Raise the body (bed) until the pin hole in the frame aligns with the pin hole in the body (bed). Install the retaining pin. 3. Clean the areas shown in the illustration with a wire brush or scraper. If cracks or damage is found, contact your Caterpillar dealer for specific repair procedures.Cooler Screen
Clean the screens whenever there is a failure of the brakes, converter or hoist hydraulic system.Clean Screen
1. Remove drain plug from the cooler and drain the oil. Clean and install the drain plug.2. Remove the hose assemblies (1) and (2) from elbow (3). To prevent damage to the screen, hold the screen in place in the elbow when removing.3. Remove the bolts from elbow (3).4. Remove the elbow and screen. Clean the screen and elbow in clean, nonflammable solvent. 5. Install the screen in the elbow, with the cone shaped end pointing the same direction as the arrow.6. Install the elbow and screen assembly in the cooler.7. Install the hose assembly to the elbow.8. Start the engine and run it at low idle. Check for leaks. 9. Check the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic system oil level. Maintain the oil level to the FULL mark in the sight gauge.10. Add oil if necessary.Hoist Return and Suction Screens
Clean Screens-Inspect
Clean screens whenever there is a failure of brakes, torque converter, lift cylinders or hoist pumps.Hoist Return Screen
1. Remove the drain plug from the hoist, converter and brake hydraulic tank. Install a 88 mm (3.50 inch) long NPT pipe nipple (1 1/4 inch O.D.) to open the internal drain valve and drain the oil. 2. Remove the bolts from the hydraulic tank cover and remove the cover. 3.
