Removal Procedure

Remove the water temperature regulator housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Temperature Regulator Housing - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove bolts (1) and the washers from outlet pipe (2).
Remove outlet pipe (2) and gasket (3).
Remove water temperature regulators (4) from water temperature regulator housing (5). Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Clean the mating surfaces of the water temperature regulator housings.

Position water temperature regulators (4) into water temperature regulator housing (5).
Install a new gasket (3) and outlet pipe (2).
Install bolts (1) and the washers. Tightened bolts (1) to a torque of 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft). End By:
Install the water temperature regulator housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Water Temperature Regulator Housing - Remove and Install".
Start By:
