Location of the transmission input speed sensor (1) Speed sensorThe transmission input speed sensors receive power from the Chassis Electronic Control Module (Chassis ECM). The sensor for the transmission input speed uses the power from the Chassis ECM in order to send a signal to the Chassis (ECM). The gear for the transmission speed sensor has 52 teeth. The gear for the transmission input speed sensor is connected to the transmission input shaft.The speed of the teeth will determine the signals that are sent by the transmission input speed sensors to the Chassis (ECM). This informs the Chassis (ECM) of the transmission input shaft speed.The Chassis ECN compares the input speed signal to the output speed signals and the Chassis ECN derives a ratio. The ratio is compared to the transmission gear that is selected in order to determine if a shift will occur.
