Removal
Label the exterior of the catalyst assemblies and the exterior of the inlet and outlet sections. Indicate the direction of the flow of exhaust through the catalytic converter.Note: When the sections are installed, maintain the original direction of the flow of exhaust. The sections must maintain the original direction of the flow of exhaust in order to comply with emissions standards.

Remove the bolts that connect the cone assemblies to the exhaust lines.
Remove the bosses.
Remove band clamps.
Disconnect the catalyst substrates from the cone assemblies and from each other. Remove the gaskets. Discard the gaskets after use. Use new gaskets for installation.
If necessary, remove the pipe plugs from the cone assemblies.Installation
Install the catalyst substrates in the reverse order of removal.
Align the bosses in the 6 o'clock position.
Apply 4C-5599 Anti-Seize Compound to the pipe plugs. Tighten the pipe plugs (4) to a torque of 29 N m (21 lb ft).
Align the band clamps in the 12 o'clock position. Tighten the band clamps to a torque of 17.0 1.2 N m (150 11 lb in).
