Removal Procedure
Hot engine components can cause injury from burns. Before performing maintenance on the engine, allow the engine and the components to cool.
Note: If the ECM is being replaced, download the personality module before you remove the ECM. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Replacing the ECM".
Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.

Remove covers (2) .
Disconnect harness assemblies (3) .
Support ECM (4). Remove bolts (1) and disconnect ground strap assembly (5). Remove ECM (4) .Note: Rubber grommets behind ECM (4) are held in place by the mounting bolts. The grommets help to reduce vibration. The grommets may fall when the bolts and/or ECM (4) are removed.Installation Procedure
Install ECM (4) in the reverse order of removal.
